I'm not sure that's a good standard for whether a candidate is good for a general election. Todd Akin was not the best candidate Missouri Republicans had on the primary ballot in 2012.

Todd Aking won because of a clown-car primary and Claire McCaskill's ratfu**ing.

Rubio, Burr, & Blunt and Portman are respectively 5 points ahead of their opponent. Any wave will take them down.

Sittenfeld would be getting destroyed. Most of Ohio doesn't know who he is and he's a City Councilman who would be running for US Senate. Strickland is at least wave insurance for OH Dems, despite having a variety of issues of his own.
