Hillary is consistently scoring double-digit leads in Virginia nowadays.  It's moved from tossup/lean-D to New Jersey numbers.

But I thought Nate Silver told me a hundred times that there's no historical evidence for VPs helping in their state?

He didn't say that, actually, and there's no evidence yet that Kaine will have a greater impact than the average running mate.

No, it was mostly Trump freaking out suburban whites with his racist rhetoric and unhinged remarks, particularly his feud with the Khan family.

Did he help... sure, at least some.

Did he make it go from competitive to NJ... no, that was Trump.

He may have added a point or two, but Trump is an awful fit for Virginia, especially Northern Virginia.

Trump's feud with Khan can account for Clinton's surge in Virginia all by itself.  Wanna drop 8 points in the commonwealth?  Insult the military.

He probably gave Hillary a bit of a boost, but Trump's implosion among educated voters made a bigger impact.

I'd say yes, but just a little, as Trump was already struggling big time in Northern Virginia.

He helped, but I'm not sure she needed it.  That said, her other VP candidates may have stolen some of her spotlight, so Kaine is sort of the perfect candidate for her purposes.

A little, I'm sure. But the terrible polling numbers are Trump's own fault.

Only slightly. Virginia is a lost cause anyways because of all the white liberals that have moved to the northern part of the state.
