Paul Ryan the next day: "Hillary Clinton does not have a mandate for implementing her policies. The American people were turned off by Donald Trump - who I obviously opposed in the last week leading up to the election. I am directing Chairman Priebus to conduct an "autopsy" of these results that will be of no use for Republicans in 2020."

Clearly Trump was the most electable Republican. If it had been Kasich, the base wouldn't have turned out!
Question:
People say [Rubio's] more electable than Trump because muh early polls.
Would Rubio have done worse?

I remember several times you called Trump and Kasich the most electable GOP candidates, too.

That map would be awesome !
If it happened, I would laugh at Seriously in every post from here until eternity.
(Especially if Hillary can just take Georgia, with an overall win of the election.)

That's about what I expect, tbh.  I now think Utah is a bit of a pipe dream, though.  She'll probably carry MT before that state.

^ This.

Personally, I'd be thrilled. The proof of NC/SC/GA's blue trend would be particularly delightful. Overall, the map would make clear that whether the 2020 GOP nominee was Cruz, Ryan, Pence, or whoever, they would have quite the uphill battle. I would think that four, five, or even six terms of a blue White House would be within reach.

Wouldn't be surprised, relieved that it's not Trump, worried that it is Clinton.

Wonderful map, but I would've liked it even more if Hillary won South Dakota. Tongue

Welcome home! I sure hope for the sake of our party we nominate someone who is far less divisive, and far more inclusive.

You've a long way to go before the base of your party will nominate someone that can win over them AND, you know, the rest of America. Plus, it's not just GOPers and it's not just personality... it's policy.

Damn, you're good at digging up these old posts! Tongue Yeah, back then I thought Trump could run a decent GE campaign while Rubio was just imploding. I always thought Trump was less electable than Kasich, though.

With hindsight, Rubio would have done much better (assuming Trump loses, of course).

I always get the scoops.

Huge sigh of relief, followed by wondering how we can possibly make amends with the 55 million Americans who, for whatever reason, wanted to hand the reins of power to Donald Trump.

Yes.  I would be thrilled and proud of my state.  The election map on 11/9 will tell the rest of the world which are the stupid states, and as a Hoosier I want us to pass the intelligence test.

I will still let out a huge sigh of relief when Trump loses, no matter the margin.
