My family should be ok, but this is always a scary thing to have happened. I hope the rest of the country is ok.

I didn't know you had family in Italy. Where exactly?

I'm in Rome and didn't even wake up,but my parents did. Apparently it was felt all the way to Bologna and Naples.

The magnitude is similar to the 2009 earthquake in L'Aquila,we can only hope that the casualty count will be nowhere near as high.

Ugh. My cousin had just arrived in Florence the previous day for a study abroad program so when I read the initial headlines that this happened in central Italy I was very worried about her initially. Turns out the epicenter of this earthquake was about 180 miles southeast of Florence, so I was able to contact her and she let me know that she's safe.

Still....very, very sad and tragic event.

At least 160 dead, "thousands"  displaced.

Ugh.
