They seem to be the most eclectic and outspoken. I suspect the type to be on this forum would view them better than your average Joe. We'll see.

I've only met one English professor at my school that I didn't care for, and I didn't even have him for a class, and I hope I won't down the road. All of the others are wonderful people, though.

Somewhat positively, though I am probably biased from my experience with them.  I had a fantastic English teacher in high school, who let us listen to records in class.  We would examine the lyrics, and try to figure out what they meant.  I learned a lot about life from him.  Cheesy

I never had an English-as-first-language professor, but my assumptions about them (and professors in general, really) are generally positive.

The creative writing teacher I had for two semesters at my college was always really eccentric and funny and engaging I'm pretty sure 80% of students picked his classes because of him.  FFs.

I've never had an English teacher/professor who didn't inspire terror in me, and yet, I still respect all but one of them. I actually spent thirty minutes with my last English professor in the library last week after the Hurricane. It was the first time we ever had a real conversation other than small talk coming in and out of class, and he is a lot more pleasant than his classroom demeanor let on (though he did often break the ice in the most tense moments with a Big Lebowski reference from time to time).

50% good 50% horrible, one being horrible cause she was a rabid sexist who wanted to hang male genitalia on a feminine monster truck cause women are "the true gods of the earth"....she got fired from what I heard last about her.
