Because people assumed Trump was in a tight race in Iowa and it was a D+8 environment? I was always saying Greenfield can win if Biden doesn't lose by more than than 2 pts....but sadly Biden lost by 8 pts. Greenfield did overperform Biden by 1.6 pts but it's just hard to overcome 8 pt deficit these days

In my defense, I was quite vocal about this race and did tell you all that the polls would likely be wrong, Ernst's gaffes wouldn't make a significant impact, and Iowa wouldn't 'snap back'. Was this race completely unwinnable for Democrats? Probably not. And I may sound "smug", and maybe creating this thread was not appropriate, but it doesn't make what I'm saying less true.

Is Ernst vulnerable in a blue wave midterm?

Winnable doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to win, or even likely to win, just that you have a chance. The fact Greenfield lost doesn’t mean it wasn’t winnable. That’s not how elections work, just because you lose doesn’t mean it was pointless trying.
