Not that I was ever a player, but it does genuinely seem like there's far less buzz already. I haven't heard anybody IRL talking about it or seen it being played in at least a week.
The newscycle is quite short these days. A few weeks pass and people move on to something else. Those weird hoverboards were common for a little while. Now I hardly ever see them. They were so forgettable that I did not even notice their disappearance until I saw one the other day and remembered that they were a thing.
I think they were more of a thing for black people anyway. I'd estimate about 85% of the people I saw using them were, at least. (Not that that has much of anything to do with their overall popularity
now; just my incidental observation.)
