So let's say we have a John Bel Edwards (D) vs. David Vitter (R) situation in other Romney states: A bad, philandering Republican candidate running against an inoffensive Democrat in an off-year election to succeed the terribly unpopular incumbent Republican governor.

In which Romney 2012 states do you think David Vitter would have won anyway?

My guess:

Red = Edwards wins
Blue = Vitter wins (only Idaho, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama)

I'd flip Kentucky, as well. If Matt Bevin of all people can win there, anything with an R next to its name can.

I'm not sure about Kansas after Brownback was re-elected. Yeah, it was a wave, but still.

I'd flip MS. JBE got 53-54% in both northern LA districts, which are similar to MS.

Last I checked, Bel Edwards had terrible approval ratings.

49/36 is not terrible by any stretch of the word: http://www.bayoubuzz.com/bb/item/1061950-gop-trump-and-duke-louisiana-s-red-state-quandary

Ah, okay. It's been a few months since I read any. Still, he's not exactly terribly popular. I doubt he would carry his own state.

^ His lowest approval was 42% back in Febraury when 1) he was just getting into office and 2) the state budget crisis was always in the news. Even then the dissapprovals were only 25%.
