Heh, I remember Bush having a significant nationwide lead following the 2004 convention, which would later turn out to be a close election. No, I'm not saying this will repeat, but it's bound to get narrower, with Clinton reaching her peak some time ago.

He's not really surging. We've seen time and again this cycle that Trump's support stays mostly flat down near 41-42% while Clinton's rises and falls.

This plus junk pollsters.

To be fair, Bush's convention went a couple weeks before Gore's. After that, the polling was pretty close
