What if the most conservative Democratic Senator ran against the most liberal Republican Senator in the presidential race? I know that it would be nearly impossible for them to be nominated, but what if they did? What would the result look like?

Manchin would have to govern more or less according to the Democratic base wishes. Collins would have to govern more or less according to the GOP base wishes.

Manchin easily.

Collins is a moderate senator with credentials that can appeal to both parties. Manchin would have mor trouble with his own base than the republican one and is just in the corporations pockets.

If the two Senators do not fall into line with their parties issues, this would be a fascinating election. How would the public respond to a pro-life Democrat or a pro-choice (and pro-LGBTQ rights) Republican?
I think social conservatives would go for Joe. Meanwhile, Collins would gain a great deal of support from college graduates.
The map, in this scenario, would look something like this like this.

310 to 228.
If they both complied more with their party's wishes, it would be something more like this.

283 to 255

Assuming they ran on their beliefs (and not on a platform imposed by their parties' bases), Collins wins the Northeast (except Pennsylvania), the West Coast, and Hawaii. I think Manchin would basically win the rest of the country. It would like similar to the 1948 map between Truman and Dewey. Thus I would predict a comfortable Manchin victory.

Joe Manchin / Heidi Heitkamp: 306
Susan Collins / Lisa Murkowski: 232

This isn't serious just in case you're too stupid to figure that out

Manchin would win, but it would be close.
