While we are basing the beginning of the new session on the House turnover, which is on Friday, since all of our new senators have been elected and have taken office, I see no reason not to go ahead and get the ball rolling on elections for next session, so that as soon as Friday hits, we can immediately get to work.

48 hours for nominations.

Though I have enjoyed serving as PPT, others seem to have ideas on how Congress can operate more smoothly and I recognize that the first session of Congress was pretty rocky, so I'm willing to let someone else take over.

I nominate Cris to serve as PPT.

I thank Senator Tmthforu94 for the nomination, but I won't run for PPT. This is my first term in the Senate as part of a bicameral legislature. Also I won't have a lot of time for running the Senate as PPT and work along the House Speaker. I plan to be a simple Senator serving the people of my region, at least for the next few months.

I think that Tmthforu94 is an active Senator, he had been a fantastic PPT and I think he's the right guy for the job. I nominate Tmthforu94.

All right then, I suppose I will carry on with it. As a note, I'm getting a dog next weekend, so my activity won't be up to the level it has been. If I think it is getting in the way of me serving as PPT, someone else will need to step up. Hopefully I'll be able to manage both. Smiley

I'll also support Tmth.  I'll step in only if nobody else wants the position.

I didn't see the need for a formal vote since every senator has expressed support for me, so I have already begun my duties as PPT for this session.

The election is formally ~over~.

Oh, OK cool. I was just worried because it wasn't formally announced in any way, lol. But that's fine.

I'm afraid it looks like we'll have to elect a new PPT, soon after Tmth's replacement is sworn in.

I'm not sure we will have a replacement in the short-term, should we commence it now?

Why not?  What's the protocol for replacing Southern senators?

I believe we must have a special election to fill the seat, I'll check to make sure in a bit, though.

If the election is within 2-8 weeks I believe you can appoint- if not it's a special election

Yes but the election for this seat was not supposed to be until December, which is 10 weeks away.

Sounds like we'll be needing Lumine to open up nominations.

Shouldn't Senator Cris formally accept the nomination before the vote.
