I don't think he really knows what the job entails. He will die of boredom because things move very slowly in the WH. He can't just up and fire anyone. He can't just up and fly his jet to Mira Lago in FL to de-stress any time he feels like it. He will have to attend to all the mundane things President's do every day.

According to the article he'll be investigated to death. Everything! Yeah, he's going to love that. (Hillary is already used to it.)

He'll need to show empathy often in many situations, something he doesn't possess.

Remember the saying, "be careful what you wish for" Trump.

Trump winning is the only way Mike Pence ever gets close to the Presidency - he'd be a hopeless 2020 candidate, but hitching his wagon to Trump means if Trump does beat the odds and win the White House, he'd get the spot he's been so obviously itching for in a year or two. How Trump loses the job, you imagine.

CORRECTION: Trump will be the cause of the death of us all, out of boredom as President

Seems as though anyone attaching themselves to Trump's bandwagon is setting themselves up for ridicule and belittlement down the road, from their fellow Republicans. That's far from setting themselves up for President.

Of course he can fire people. Cabinet members serve at the pleasure of the President.

His presidency wouldn't be boring at all.  There would be impromptu firings right and left due to Trump's poor judgement and disloyalty; 180° policy reversals followed by 180° reversals back to his original position; daily speeches to clarify and backtrack on his questionable, amateurish comments; long vacations; endless gaffes; visible frustration at the failure of his ridiculous and improbable policies; and of course, World World III.  Trump would be more likely to die from a broken heart caused by his failure as a President rather than boredom.

A (very) hypothetical President TrumpMiller would certainly not die of boredom. He would either go do whatever the hell he wanted (probably never even moving into the White House), and let VP Pence do the boring stuff, or he'd be busy as a beaver cutting down two centuries worth of law, tradition, and Constitutional government.

He can choose his cabinet, but he can't just fire any civil servant he wants to. It's explained in the article.

Perhaps your comment is true for a lot of other potential candidates.  But for Pence, it is really a no-risk option:

1. If Trump wins, Pence gets to play Dick Cheney and audition for President.  If he does well, he gets the credit.  Otherwise Trump will be blamed anyhow.

2. If (when?) Trump loses, Pence has a better name recognition, than before, and can cash in, either in the private sector or as a Senator for IN.
