Will anyone pay attention? I doubt it.

There is hope though:

I will pay attention and scream it from the rooftops. This is enough to switch me from being a "meh, Hillary" voter to a "YES PLEASE LET'S DO THIS." I have family with severe mental illness, and I cannot begin to describe how much what she says rings true. The current system is failing so many amazing people.

About time mental health was actually addressed, instead of just being used as a distraction after an incidence of gun violence.

This is great, really. A nice respite from all the negative campaign messages from both sides.

This is good.  And something non-partisan enough to have a chance at getting through congress.

This is a laudable step in the right direction towards expanding coverage and reducing roadblocks to access for countless mentally ill Americans. The people most likely to be deprived of access to these essential services, such as the poor and working poor, are the ones most likely to need them, which is the tragic irony of the failed American healthcare system - especially our mental healthcare system. Nevertheless, there is certainly room for improvement and particularly on eliminating the taboo and dismissiveness of mental health problems, which is why I really like what Clinton said here:

But there was a very important point made at the end. Clinton's plan does not detail how our government would assist these most vulnerable citizens.

Mental health is one of the most important issues affecting the country.  It's the cause of a lot of our homelessness, a lot of our crime, it often leads to other illnesses, it's a massive drain on our welfare and law enforcement systems, it destroys families, and it's often heartbreaking in its effects.

Pioneer Square in Seattle used to be nice.  Then a bunch of homeless shelters opened up and nobody goes there anymore.  You're not allowed to say why, because that would involve complaining about the homeless and oh those poor people they haven't done anything wrong.  But the truth is that most of them have one mental illness or another, many of them have addictions to drugs or some form of prescription medication, and as a result there's a lot of violent crime in the area.  Now it's a bunch of very nice old buildings with dusty, gold-plated interiors and empty classy restaurants and bars, with four people sleeping in the entrance and a cop car parked out front.  The city's now turning to such extreme measures as allowing heroin and other drugs in certain shelters so at least when people shoot up and get violent they won't be on the streets killing each other.

Of course a lot of this is due to drug addiction rather than mental illness but the two go hand in hand.
