While it would be wrong to wish for a Trump presidency, Dore probably isn't wrong about the first bit at least.

And Bush the Younger was a seasoned politician who was governor of one of the biggest states in the Union at the time of his election, not to mention that he came from a very prominent political dynasty. There is really no comparison between them.
