Many cities in Fremont suffer from extremely high housing costs, placing a significant burden on working and middle class families. Much of this comes from a lack of supply in housing markets, which is exacerbated by local groups in cities which try to restrict development, despite local laws allowing it. This bill tries to speed up development in areas where local laws and regulations would allow it, while also ensuring the construction of affordable housing.

I will support this measure, as it will cut excessive regulations to create more affordable housing. As a region we are currently struggling with affordable housing, and as legislatures we need to look at ways to make housing more affordable in Fremont.

I'm not sure if I'm going to end up signing this if it's only passed by one person. I'll contact Griffin and rpryor, but I'd really like some clause that incentivizes more development around public transportation.

The region is not building these housing complexes. It is merely a requirement that when you building housing that 30% is geared toward low income individuals.
