Opinion of the 'alt right'

So, opinion of the easily searchable (yet hard to pin down) 'alt right'. I'm somewhat undecided between them simply being a HM and them not being a real movement at all. Whilst in general the kind of people prominently associated with the term (and those who aren't but nonetheless identify themselves as such) are in my view mostly a bunch of loonies and attention seekers, I'm not really sure their 'movement', such as it is, really deserves to be called a movement, given that it seems simply to be a mishmash of various fringey far-right ideologies that have always been present on the internet but have only recently received more substantial attention. I mean it's a somewhat comparable phenomenon to the similar so-called 'dark enlightenment' that received a bit of press attention, which has now vanished without trace.

I'd say no since he's basically just a prostitute. Once Drudge started linking to him and different readers started visiting his site he completely clammed up on some of his dumber viewpoints. Hell, Trump went on his show and said a bunch of pissed off muslims did 9/11 and Alex Jones just nodded along. 10 years ago Alex Jones was yelling about how W shot a cruise missile into the pentagon and did an entire documentary on how Bin Laden was a then-current CIA operative.
