John Fredericks, a talk show host of Hampton Roads, says his intel tells him Carly Fiorina plans to run for the Senate seat in Virginia if Hillary Clinton wins. He mentions Dave Brat, Jimmie Massie, and Ken Cuccinelli all plan to run as well.

Dave Brat? Why can't he just sit in his Safe R district and leave Middle America alone?

I think she was originally planning on doing that, but it looks like Reince Priebus is going to run for reelection and he has a lot of support. It was originally thought that he wouldn't run again. So perhaps Fiorina is ditching that plan to run for Senate instead, which is hilarious. She lost in CA already, so she'll be accused of carpetbagging. But after a presidential run, she has increased name recognition, and maybe she'd win the primary. Who knows

It is fascinating how desperate Carly is to get some sort of job in politics.

Is there any news on who McAuliffe plans to replace Kaine with? Hopefully someone with a little personality and who can raise copious amounts of cash.

Dems should win this race regardless both times. The only Pub who can win is Overconfident Barbara, who already bought the domain names for her Senate run. It's why Dems should pour a lot of money into VA-10 to get rid of her now so she doesn't run for higher office later.

Comstock is a probable 2020s presidential contender, imo.

God please no. Hopefully they nominate Comstock.
I agree. If not, my second choice is Bill Bolling. I also wouldn't be surprised if Rob Wittman, whose governor bid is doing poorly, decides to switch to this race. Another source also says Jim Gilmore is laying the foundation for a run. In addition, George Allen and Eric Cantor may also want to run for the seat. We could see an extremely large field. The only way Republicans have a chance IMO is if they nominate Comstock, or Bolling.

Gilmore would have a chance if the media wasn't committed to silencing him.

I really wish they invited him to all those undercard debates. I agree, the way they treated him was terrible.

You listed everybody not mentioned except Tom Davis. Glenn Davis might run in 2018 if they lose now.

Of the non-obvious Democrats, Chap Petersen seems like a potentially strong pick.

Yeah, because the last time he ran for Senate worked out so well...

while we're at it, let's have other Virginia converts like Santorum and Gingrich run as well. Let's have a Grand Old Party!

Yeah, because the last time he ran for Senate worked out so well...

The fact that he was able to win counties in a huge D wave against someone who was very popular at that time even among many McCain supporters shows he has some level of political skill.

Wow he won a county in a state that has over 100! He must be a political GENIUS! He was also SUCH a great presidential candidate, right guys?

Gingrich is a strong candidate, and probably one of the best the Tea Party could put up. He and Dave Brat are a bit more unorthodox than most Tea Party conservatives.

He was gaining some momentum around labor day but then CNN ruined it when they carefully made sure that he wouldn't be included in the September debate even though every other candidate was. Then his numbers plummeted to near absolute zero, preventing him from being included in any other debates until January when a polling company felt sorry for him and made sure he made the criteria for the final debate before Iowa. But it was too little, too late.

This would be rather unfortunate as both the D and R side have deep benches of actually qualified people. If she or Brat were to get it, it'd likely result in an immediate counter-endorsement for me. Cuccinelli would get only slightly more thought.

Wonder why she didn't run for the House seat Mimi Walters ended up winning in California.
