Halifax is still very, very white. If you live in a nice neighbourhood your school will be 5% Asian or Arab. If you live in a poor neighbourhood, it will be 5% black. Not much of a difference.

I'm quite curious, especially about the phenomena that is sometimes observed of auto-segregation. My schooling was fairly mixed - there was definitely cliques that skewed disproportionally Chinese or Ghanian or Greek or Indian; but I don't think there was any outright segregation. Is this different in America? Like are there black cliques and white cliques and Hispanic cliques?
We're about 8-10% black and 1-2% Hispanic. At a small high school like mine, that means there really can't be racial cliques.

idk exactly but something like
65%white
30%black
5%other (mostly asian...and most of those were Vietnamese I think)

There were lots of cliques, but they were more based on social status than race (and certainly not religion).

Very diverse.

I think it was like 36% white, 30% black, 20% Hispanic, 14% Other.

Around 15% Hispanic perhaps. Next to no Asians or blacks. This was back around 1968. The High School district took in Encino and parts of Van Nuys.

It was 80-85% white. A lot of teachers and administrators discussed ways to make the school more diverse, but I think they went about it in entirely the wrong way.

I'd say probably somewhere like 35% White, 35% Black, 20% Hispanic and 10% Asian.

I went through our old class Facebook page, and we had 58 white people, 6 black people, 3 Asian people, and 2 Hispanic people (probably "white Hispanics", so make it 60 whites).  Yes, my high school was quite small (private school).

At the time of my graduation in 2000, not too much.  We did have some blacks and Hispanics in the school, but it seemed like a large majority of students were white.

According to http://public-schools.startclass.com/l/17599/Fairfield-Warde-High-School, as of 2014, there were 1,459 students enrolled at the school.  Of these, 77.2 percent are white, and 14.6 percent are Hispanic or black.

It was roughly 50-50 black and white when I went there. Now it's roughly 40-40-18-2 with the 18 being Hispanic and the 2 being Asian.

Very very white and Catholic, my class had one Chinese guy and one Jewish guy and that was as diverse as you could get at my school(there were also like 5 girls)

(But then again almost everyone in Argentina is white or mestizo)

I can't find actual numbers, but if I had to guess I'd say something like 50% white, 30% Asian, 10% black, 10% other, including Hispanic, Native American, and mixed.

It was definitely more socially integrated as a school than when I was at college. High school was easily the period of my life when I made the most non-white friends, and things like hangout spots and parties had pretty much the same demographics of the school as a whole.

When I get home, I'll check my yearbook and see if those numbers are close to right - I'm sure Asian was the most over-represented group compared to the city average, though.

90%+ white. The non-white people were often friends with each other, but they still were friends with the white people as well.

And yeah, Catholic vs. Protestant wasn't really a thing. Some people in my school didn't even know what their parents' religion was.

According to the Chicago Tribune, my school of 1332 students was 88% white, 0.2% black, 2.5% Hispanic, 4.2% Asian, and 4.9% multiracial/ethnic. Yeah, not real diverse....

99.8% White.

Of about 500 students, probably not more than 1 was non-white.

I know 1 female student a few classes below me who was adopted from Bangladesh as an infant.

PS: I consider Austrian students of Turkish origin as White.

There were probably many years when it was 100% White.

Almost all white, with only a handful of nonwhites (many of whom were exchange students).  Given that my hometown is almost all white as well, it shouldn't come as a surprise.

mmm in my class it was like: a few argentinians, colombians, brazilians, a apanish guy, a Taiwanese girl (born in Chile and culturally chilean) 3 Jewish (although one was from Colombia), the rest were typical chilean whites (private school), although a high percentage were from Palestinian descent (there are many in Chile).

In a class of 200+ we had zero blacks, maybe a brown or two, but my school was whiter than a loaf of Wonder Bread.

It seems this has not changed much over the past 12 years when I was a student there:

http://www.hakzell.at/schueler-eltern/klassen-schueler/klassen-uebersicht.html

From 19 classes with 20-25 students each, I can only spot one black student ...
