I'm no fan of Corbyn's ilk, but come off it for god's sake.

jfern would support neither warmongering LBJ nor Moderate Hero Brezhnev. He'd be an Enver Hoxha fanboy.

Why do I even need to think about the question?  You always *inform* me of the correct™ answer in your OP.

That's not my intention. I'm just giving my opinion in the answer to the poll.

"Support" isn't the right way to describe it.

JFern 1956: "Why are we talking about what's going on in Hungary when brutal imperialists in Britain and France are invading Egypt as we speak? Hungary's a sideshow."
JFern in 1968: "Yeah, I'm a bit more concerned about the genocidal conflict in Southeast Asia than I am about whether some kids in Prague are getting roughed up. Priorities."

The only people that supported the crushing of the Hungarian revolution were your most hardcore of hardcore Communists - it very badly hurt the membership of lots of Western Communist parties since a fair few people supported the revolution (important to note that Nagy still identified as a Communist and I'm pretty sure that Hungary would have morphed into a more liberal version of Yugoslavia as time went on most likely; he only asked the West for help when the tanks were already rolling in) and really didn't like the Soviet reaction.  Its the same thing for Czechoslovakia; although by then Communist Parties in much of Europe were either irrelevant or had started going down the Eurocommunist route rather than strictly following the Soviet line so it probably affected them less.  Since he's not a Communist then the only logical answer would be no - the same answer that I'd give to Corbyn and indeed every prominent Labour party figure.

the jfern of the era would've given some barely coherent rants about how the warmongers of the Eisenhower and LBJ administration's just want to use it as a pretext to start a war with the Soviet Union and thus try to explain why the Soviets weren't really that bad.. Same way  "anti-imperialists" try to make excuses for everything Putin does and call the Ukrainian government Nazis.

only if there were a list of like, 25 Soviet scientists that signed a very haughty letter dismissively demanding they do so.
