Nice work as usual Miles, although I don't think the Texas Almanac counts as the kind of primary source Dave wants.  He mostly is looking for state election agencies.

This seems off. I could see them going narrowly GOP (1966 was a relatively good midterm for Republicans, Tower was probably the first Republican senator anywhere to do any kind of serious Hispanic voter outreach, and Austin wasn't the liberal monolith it is today), but not by that much.

Miles, can you double check and make sure numbers didn't get flipped around there?

^ Yeah, according to my source, both are apparently right.

It looks like Tower carried El Paso easily in 1961 as well, but thats a big swing in Travis, if true.
