As far as my dysentery riddled tenant farmer's politics, I imagine I'd be part of the local Democratic machine. But I'd have some rather Whiggish tendencies, like support for the American School of economics.

Given that you would be essentially a product of your socioeconomic situation, I'd have to imagine that you'd be predisposed towards opposition to appropriation of your money in the name of building a canal for a couple of industrialists when you've got your own problems to worry about.

Think of it this way, someone has to dig that canal.
