Joe Miller is now the libertarian nominee in the race for Senator from Alaska and is hoping to unseat Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)...

Ironically, the Libertarians turned down running Murkowski on their line in 2010 after she lost the R primary.

So, the guy who couldn't beat her write-in campaign when he had the Republican nomination now thinks he can beat her as a libertarian? Lol.

At least his views are pretty much the same.

He openly rejects libertarianism, then becomes the nominee for LP Alaska while saying he would caucus with the GOP. I don't know who is the bigger troll here, Miller or the Alaska Libertarian Party.

Obviously he would have to caucus with one of the two major parties in order to get committee assignments (otherwise he'd be almost useless as a Senator), and the Democrats would reject him for obvious reasons. He's not a real libertarian, but he is a real opportunist.

Thinking about it now, it's a kind of a wonder how Miller was able to win the 2010 primary in the first place.  Did the establishment just "wake up" after that debacle and manage to neutralize Miller for all subsequent elections?

A combination of Murkowski's campaign not prepared for a serious threat, outside spenders bombed the airwaves for Miller, and Sarah Palin endorsed Miller while she still had some level of popularity left there. All of that on top of Miller being a little known veteran officer with some legal background allowed him to surf an anti-establishment wave.

Would be hilarious if Murkowski still has the lowest winning percentage of any 2016 Senate election while never being particularly seriously endangered (I can easily see 43-19-19-19 as a result here, for example, or even a double-digit win while reduced below 40 with no opponent over 25).

I think Miller surpasses the Democrat nominee in terms of votes, but loses solidly to Murkowski in the re-match.

He has no chance, so doesn't really matter. Interesting, though. If he really wants to go to Congress he should probably try to challenge Don Young in the Republican primary

If Murkowski beat Miller as a write-in candidate while he had the nomination of a major party, then there's a less than zero chance he'll beat her as a third party candidate.

I'm not a fan of Murkowski, but I am certainly not a fan of the a-hole, Miller. I can't wait to see her crush Miller.

It's a wonky race.  I think the AK Dems want to endorse Margaret Stock, but haven't quite openly come out with it yet.
