A debate with Johnson in it would be like the debates Hillary and Bernie had at the start with Martin O'Malley in them. He was so low in the polls it wasn't funny, and most of the questions were going to Hil and Bern anyway. It was like Martin was taking up precious time and space, and nobody really cared what he had to say.

That's always possible. Or Johnson might be like Nick Clegg in the 2010 UK election - perform brilliantly in the debate (by virtue of being able to appeal a little bit to everyone), take the lead in the polls, then get squeezed by both sides and finish third.

I'm obviously biased but it seems once again, the bar for people running against Clinton is lowered till they fall over it.

Let Johnson and Castle in. Daniels is right.

Why should Castle get in? He's a nobody. If he wants access to the debates, then he needs to show he can actually run a winning campaign. I'd say the same for Johnson, too (but also acknowledging Johnson is at least raising money and doing decent in the polls for a 3rd party candidate). I thought that was the point of the 15%. They are not, and rightfully should not just let any tom dick and harry onto the debate stage with the only 2 serious candidates*

*I have trouble even saying Trump is serious, so it's more like this race has only one sane & serious candidate
