Nope, this was his chance. He's not only too old but he won't challenge Clinton as the sitting president, she'll remain at least decently popular among the base. A serious catastrophe (like a 20% approval rating) would have to happen for anyone else to challenge her. The Democratic Party has many more options anyways.
