I'm going to offer an amendment that will do just that.

Does the sponsor consider this amount reasonable?

Also, I'm curious if the sponsor would be interested in indexing the minimum wage to inflation.

This amendment waters down the original intent of the bill.  I'd much prefer we have the same minimum for each region and give tax credits to small businesses.  I also don't believe that regions and cities (such as Seattle, which recently adopted a $15 minimum wage) should be limited to how high they can set their wages.

The amendment is also awkwardly written; the federal minimum wage shouldn't be called a "federal minimum wage" if the regions can adjust it, as the language suggests.

It shouldn't be the Federal government's place to limit how much a city can vote to raise its own minimum wage.  I will not be voting for the bill in its current form.

For now, I'm submitting an amendment to remove this absurd (and possibly unconstitutional) limitation.

Five days of no debate.  I second Blair's motion.

I'm not quite sure how Kingpoleon's proposal would be laid out, so I suggest we vote on the bill as is and then the House can deliberate.
