What do you think about cash as a method of payment? Some European countries are trying to reduce the use of cash, and some have even talked about phasing out the use of cash entirely.

I hate carrying cash, primarily because I have an irrational fear of losing it. Debit card or die.

Strangely enough, yes, even though it takes a lot more time.

No, I like to carry as little cash as possible. I use my credit card whenever I can, you only spend what you can afford and then get points back as free cash for later.

Yes, because I have a better sense of how much money I'm actually spending, which is something I struggle with.

For small transactions at drive-thrus, I prefer cash as it's easier than the hassle of pulling out a wallet to had over my card. (I keep my two cup holders filled with change in one and dollar coins in the other. I also prefer cash for when I ship at thrift stores, since frankly I don't always trust them to keep my card info safe and those are also small transactions. The same goes for garage sales and flea markets as well. Last but not least, I make cash donations at church as it allows me to contribute while being humble. But other than those specific uses, I generally use cards.

My threshold is usually around $25. For transactions under that I rarely use a card. For transactions over that I rarely use cash with exceptions for church sales, flea markets, and similar activities.

I always pay with my debit card when I'm in the eurozone, but I wouldn't want us to abolish cash. It's a privacy issue. For instance, I don't go to Dutch coffee shops but I know many people who pay with cash there, which I find very understandable.

I do pay with cash in non-euro countries.

I carry my cell phone, driver's license, debit card and gas/grocery card.  That's it.  I keep a small amount of small bills in my work bag for hunger emergencies, but otherwise never carry cash (unless I plan on using cash of course, but that's rare...like maybe once a month).

Yes. Makes me more reluctant to buy stuff if I'm handing the guy dollar bills.
