And yet, significant amounts of it would have been wasted regardless of whether there was room to store it, because our system of producing and distributing food is wholly inefficient at preventing hunger or avoiding waste.  And, as a consequence of this increased waste, our methane emissions from landfill and organic rot increase directly, not to mention the associated pollution that comes with the pointless production of the wasted crops.

It's an enormous indictment on agricultural policy that as resources will become scarcer with the acceleration of climate change, we continue to encourage and fund over-production while people across the country and all over the world don't have enough to eat.

And all during the hottest, most dangerously manmade globally warmed year ever! We're already 2/3 of the way to our very important, not made up by activists, 1.5C warming limit!  Surely the predictions of reduced yields and massive crop losses leading to mass death are just around the corner like they have been for 300 years!

Just so you know...the bumper crop has been global in nature.  Russia is up to its ears in wheat.

I'm glad that you at least acknowledge that warming is going on. As for the 1.5 limit (though I hear 2 more often), that's usually described as the point where feedback cycles start becoming significant. It would lead to a lot more than 1.5 or 2 degrees of warming by 2100. Keeping the warming under that level would keep the climate stable.

It's kind of hard to scale up the number of cows quickly.

Wheat should be doing fine, since we haven't drained the Ogallala aquifer quite yet.
What you should be asking yourself: how are California almonds, rice, and cotton doing?

The answer- not well: http://www.ers.usda.gov/topics/in-the-news/california-drought-farm-and-food-impacts/california-drought-crop-sectors/

Yeah...who cares about global crop yields and harvests when we can focus in on California almonds.

You  even managed to use Trumpist language-SAD!  Not well! Etc.
