I wonder if Clinton had defeated Obama for the nomination in 2008 and had been president for the last eight years and now Obama were the nominee campaigning to succeed her would the election outlook be more or less the same.  The only major difference would be that Obama would have 8 more years experience in the Senate and so there wouldn't be questions about his experience or readiness as there was in 2008.

Obama would be ahead by at least 10 points RCP right now over the clown.

I think things would have been different for the last eight years with a Democratic president, and Hillary would have also had a tougher time getting reelected in 2012, so there are a lot of possibilities.  What if we're talking President Romney vs. Senator Obama?

It would be weird seeing Obama not as the fresh faced inspiring agent of hope and change. Instead Obama would be much more of a serious candidate having been senator for 12 years and trying to protect Hillary's legacy.

Trump would probably be losing by 10-15 points. However, it is unlikely that Trump would be in the position he's in today if Obama did not become president in 2008.

I think the country would be less polarized, racially and politically, so 1) there'd be no Trump and 2) if there were, it'd be easier for his Democratic opponent to build up more of a lead.
