This is a pretty stupid hill on which to plant a flag. Associating Pepe with white supremacy? It was just such a prevalent meme that everybody picked up on it and began using it (including white supremacists).

This is going to look so dumb to anybody under 30; way to reinforce the classic "Clinton is out-of-touch" stereotype. There goes 5 points of Millennial support! The sad thing is, it was probably Millennials who wrote this silliness in the first place.

Clinton is off on her meme game.

If any member of my generatiom will change their votes because of Pepe the Frog, then my generation is stupider than I thought.

This reminds me of a grandma sharing the "understanding your teenager's texts" chart post on facebook.

Of all of the journalistic styles to imitate in a press release, why has the Clinton campaign chosen explainer journalism? It even looks like they got Vox's web designer to make their website look as similar as possible.

(Also, groan.)

It's also going to turn off anyone over 30 who either A) don't understand the meme anyway or B) can't keep track of how quickly memes change and can perfectly understand older people accidentally reposting a meme that has since taken on different connotations to the twenty-somethings with attention spans of gnats.  (Even if, as was certainly the case here, it was really obvious and the Trumps should know better).

Trying to police memes is just no-win for anyone.

this is embarassing, but really, it's not surprising a 68 year old woman doesn't know who pepe is.

It is embarrassing, but it is not just Clinton['s campaign]. Even 538 and Nate Cohn mentioned it (as something important)... Couldn't believe that they were serious.

Anything that is co-opted by white supremacists is fair game to call out. The overarching theme now is to call out Trump for his ties to white nationalists and racists, so it makes sense that this is being highlighted. This particular meme wasn't that popular, which is why the alt-right, etc. chose to latch on to it.
