Really incredible data here. Includes third parties that won a county.

Data before the civil war is limited, partially because some states did not always hold open elections for president, although South Carolina is only state that did not hold at least one presidential election before the civil war.

The rapid shifts from 1960-1980 are really incredible

I really want to know where they got the data from because I can't find any county results for any elections before 1960.

Even this site has county data pre-1960 for paid members. Excluding that, there are the original sources and a few other archives out there.

I'm pretty sure these maps are all on Wikipedia, but it's nice to have them in video form.

Why did the AR/MS border region vote Republican until 1888?

Blacks had their right to vote taken away in much of the south in the 1880s.

I had a feeling that was what was going on.

It's sad watching that belt disappear in the late 19th century.

Also the 1984 results make it hard to believe that Mondale even won Minnesota.
