Since yesterday, my PC monitor has a half inch pixel error.

Is there any way to fix this or should I throw it away and buy a new one ?

It's much older than 2 years already, so no warranty anymore.

Thx.

Tender is always going to blame it on the blacks.

Color, and it's especially annoying on a white background:

I'm probably about to say something stupid, but have you checked brightness level? (I know it's unlikely, but happened to me once).

Yeah, I reset the picture in the settings and did the same with brightness/contrast/ etc.

Nothing changed.

I probably need to get a new monitor ...

I guess this is it.

I remember how pissed I got when my monitor died when I was eight.

Mr Tendies,

That looks like "stuck pixels." If it was truly unfixable, we'd be talking about "dead pixels", which are solid white or black. Google "how to fix stuck pixels" and see what you can do. You might not be able to fix it, but there is definitely the possibility.

Thx.

But I already pressed my thumb against the location a few times.

Sometimes the spot gets a bit bigger, sometimes slightly smaller or lighter - but never vanishes.

Did you try the other suggestions on there? There are a number of methods, including a software-based one. Read it all.

If you are going to buy a new monitor should the pixel issue persist, you might as well try everything listed first. Otherwise you might forfeit an opportunity to save yourself some money.

I'm like 99.9% sure it's the monitor, not the graphics card (because if I push on the spot, it gets bigger or smaller).

I might try a few of the other options later though.

Well of course it's the monitor! 'Software-based' doesn't necessarily imply its the graphics card. Be thorough tender. Don't needlessly torture your wallet.
