LOL. Now all we need is Scott McAdams, Mead Treadwell, Sean Parnell and Sarah Palin, and we'll have the whole crop of AK politicians in office or running for it.

Why wouldn't he have just run as a Democrat if he wanted to get into this race? He probably wouldn't have won, but there's no way in hell running a write-in campaign is going to work.

Probably not, though some said the same about the Gov race in 2014.

One of them is already in the Senate, the other one planned to primary Murkowski but dropped out.

Why wouldn't he have just run as a Democrat if he wanted to get into this race? He probably wouldn't have won, but there's no way in hell running a write-in campaign is going to work.

There was a Democratic Party establishment candidate, former Seward Mayor Edgar Blatchford but he lost the primary to perennial candidate Ray Metcalfe, a Republican State Representative from 30 years ago who in the interim founded and led the "Republican Moderate Party of Alaska". Even though Blatchford probably wasn't going to win, he would have ensured normal Democrats were represented in the race. Now that there is no longer that assurance, people want Begich to run.

Lol wut.

I actually don't mind Mark Begich, he opposed the Iran deal and worked w/ Joe Lieberman, Mary Landrieu and Evan Bayh in lobbying against it. On top of that, he's pretty centrist as a whole.

But, like in Indiana, I'll back the Republican. Keeping the majority is too important. Only difference between AK and IN is that I like Todd Young while I'm not a huge fan of Murkowski. Oh, and Begich has no chance as a write-in candidate.

And the plot thickens in a senate seat with consistently abnormal elections

This makes no sense. Surely you'd wait until 2020? I don't think Murkowski's beatable in a General Election.....

Alaska won't be on the radar this year. Murkowski is too popular and will win easily.

I would still say that Murkowski has a good shot at winning, but if Begich runs as a write in, this will be an amazing race to watch because how can you go wrong with an incumbent Republican who won the last election as a write-in, a Republican turned Libertarian (who should really be with the Constitution Party) that wants a rematch, a washed up former Republican and Moderate Republican who is now somehow a Democrat, and a former senator mounting a write-in campaign for the senate seat that wasn't his. If only Dan A. Sullivan (the mayor of Anchorage) had ran.
