There is no such thing as a lifer in Florida. Nelson is the closest thing to one and even he'd be at risk against the right candidate.

But really, beyond what's been said in this thread Marco's appeal is similar to that of Nelson. Both are acceptable or better to their own party while having serious appeal to a voting bloc that now generally votes for the other side (that being Southern Whites for Nelson and Cubans (and Hispanics generally) for Marco.) Marco could lose to the right candidate but so far Murphy has done nothing to assert himself in a way that would appeal to Republicans to offset Rubio's appeal.
