What is your opinion of the former Ohio governor, former congressman, former think tank member, and 2016 Ohio Democratic Senate nominee?

I thought he was a pretty good Governor (and it showed because he lost very narrowly in the world's most Republican year against "the most electable republican"), but he sadly thought he should extend his political life by running for Senate. Almost from the beginning there were signs that this was going to be a flop.

It's a bit saddening that a 75-years old washed-up dude like Strickland is the best Democrats could come up with in Ohio.

Tilt FF, but he has virtually no chance. Better he lose to a generic R than a particularly awful one.

On the contrary, I'm a huge fan of traditional Republicans; I'm supporting one for president. The trouble is that Portman's views are in stark contrast with the Republican tradition established by Lincoln and practiced through Coolidge.

In what way exactly? Unless you are a protectionist?

Of course, the motive for early Republican protectionism was to let an infantile and growing business community prosper, the exact opposite motive for protectionism today, so that line of thinking makes absolutely no sense.

But in all honesty, Clash, I would be interested to hear in more detail what you mean.

He used to be beating Portman with ease in the polls, then the wheels came off.
