And by this I mean a completely different religion from yours, not merely a different sect or a nuanced difference in very specific beliefs.

I hope I don't regret starting this thread...

I voted no but also voted for Romney in 2012 so I guess that's not entirely accurate.  I vote for the person who holds morals closer to my own.

Considering I am, unlike most politicians, not religious, it happens all of the time.

Ditto. Not many agnostics out there for me to vote for.

That said, even if there were, I'm pretty sure religious beliefs per se wouldn't be a factor in my choice.

Yes, but I'd definitely prefer a Jew. (Not like that's gonna happen any time soon, though Cry)

There are people with religious beliefs different than mine who I would vote for. There are also people with religious beliefs different from mine who I would not vote for (ie. it is not the case that I would vote for every possible candidate with religious beliefs different from mine). Therefore I voted Depends(I/O).

Wordy but necessary for logical consistency Tongue

Considering Jews are only like 2.5% of the population, obviously yes (sane, not a bigot).

Yes, but it depends on their religion.
And also to the degree that their religion affects their politics. For instance, I could see voting for a Young Earth Creationist if their Biblical hyperliteralism didn't dictate their politics, but I'd be rather surprised if that were the case.

Considering I'm Muslim, yes all my votes have been for non-Muslims.  So the answer is yes.

Absolutely in a general election, though in a primary election religion would definitely be a prime consideration.

Voting for a Jew or Muslim would be fantastic. Not sure about a dialectic materialist, though.

Exactly. Religion has nothing to do with it for me, it's all about morals and I think that's why a lot of people vote for someone on a religious basis. You get similar moral outcomes from similar religions.

I would vote for anyone who I agree with on the issues who doesn't believe in anything objectively malevolent (some sort of demon worshipper/actual satanist).
I have a friend who is a state legislator and atheist from school.

I have a Jew as one of my Senators I voted for twice and a Muslim Representative I've voted for every election I've lived here. Yes.

Frankly, I've come to the conclusion that calling dialectical materialism a religion is being too kind on dialectical materialism.
