For years and years, the media have been "unbiased". Sure, they've probably skewed liberal, but they've tried to stay impartial. What the hell happened to that!? Since he announced his campaign, the media have been covering Trump nonstop. Every remark he's made, everything he's done. This enabled his name recognition to skyrocket, which let him win the Republican primaries. And now in the general, the media are covering Stormfront/Breitbart conspiracy theories as normal news and not caring about policy.

Why is this? Ratings. Ratings have driven the media insane and have let them become so biased in favor of Trump that they're enabling his candidacy. The media will be singlehandedly responsible for the destruction of our nation and our world, all because they want sweet, sweet cash. It's disgraceful. And it's definitely making a difference in the polls. If Trump wins this election, it's gonna be thanks to the news organizations.

ADDENDUM: And through this entire process, whenever Trump releases a bit of concrete policy, the hail it like a God has come to Earth, while the candidate(s) with actual good plans are ignored. Each side of Trump's flip flops are covered while other candidates' policy plans are never covered at all.

It toon you this long to figure that out? This is literally the single biggest reason why Trump won the primary. He is a master manipulator of the media, and he's exposed the fact that the biggest agenda the media has is profit.

I just felt with all the health stuff and trumps recent surge in the polls it was especially necessary to say right now.

Pretty much I think the election will come down to whether Trump is having a good or bad news cycle in the two weeks before the election.

Which is especially scary when one considers that Russian hackers are still sitting on DNC data.

Agreed.

I might also add I've been thinking of the media's usefulness at this point given they have betrayed their core reason for existing. What's the point of having it at this point?

You honestly don't want the media talking about Clinton more than Trump. She's not an appealing candidate and will definitely not become more popular with more attention; the last few weeks should be good enough evidence of that.

I can't help but note that a liberal complains about media bias when it's HIS candidate with the e-mail scandal that becomes The Gift That Keeps On Giving for Donald Trump.  But, yes, Rep LLR is right in his observations.

I noted this in another thread, but the real dumbing down of Presidential campaigns occurred in 1992 when Bill Clinton went on Arsenio Hall and played the sax.  It seemed innocuous enough, but what it represented was a major candidate bypassing the national media and getting his message out through entertainment circles.  Now, the national media have to compete with late night tv, talk shows, talk radio, opinion tv (FOX, MSNBC) and social media, as well as the national news outlets.  Chris Wallace has to compete with Howie Carr, who has to compete with a viral meme on Facebook.

I would not agree that the media has been easy on Trump.  They've jumped on him, attacked him, stay after him.  Trump just plays the game better; he knows something about how to do media that none of his opponents really get.  I suspect one of those things Trump knows is that there is a lot of things that the media whips itself into a frenzy about that ordinary voters don't give a crap about.  This is why Trump isn't being demolished for not revealing his tax returns; folks really don't care about it enough to change their voting behavior.

I agree that the media covers Trump more for ratings, but what sane person could say the media is helping him now? Other than Hannity and ORielly what major media figures support Trump?

The media is helping Trump even when it tries not to.

It doesn't matter what side the media's on.  It hasn't had an ounce of credibility to it since the 1960s.

That graph says a lot.

The media is non-stop going after trump, but (virtually) no republican or independent trusts them.
When 85% and 70% think the media is unfairly lying about someone (because they are), than you kind of get behind the victim of the ridiculous attacks naturally.

The graph probably flips around when they actually cover a democrat scandal... the facts are so undeniable and so rarely mentioned that people are very interested in it.

The irony is that Red Hacks/media don't understand that they help Trump.

Every time Trump says something Red Hacks/media is SCREAMING:

RACIST!!! FASCIST!!! DEPLORABLE!!! HITLER!!! MUSSOLINI!!!

All those word are high-energy and should be used carefully, only when those fit perfectly in context. When Red Hacks/media always use them, they became low-energy, transforming into a noise, that voters ignore. Voters just divide Red Hacks/media's bullsh**t by 100.

But then when media start to talk about legitimate issues, voters divide this by 100 as well.

What is more important? That guy was doing a scummy business or that he is F**KING RACIST, FASCIST, DEPLORABLE, HITLER, MUSSOLINI ?

This part is almost perfect.

Leftists have acted so 'incorrectly' for so long, that they have changed the response to information.  The good people of America can't trust "establishment" institutions because they are largely corrupt.
Fool me once shame on you, twice - shame on me.  well, this has been going on for decades.

How cute. So you'll blame the media that regularly calls him a liar (to his face), meticulously digs up every small scandal they can for ratings (he doesn't know David Duke? How dare him!), constantly attacking him for questioning their objectivity (while simultaneously meddling in the election and calling him a "public threat"-that isn't a job of a journalist), etc, etc.

If Trump wins, he's going to beat Hillary and the media at once. Don't cry any crocodile tears because the American people are rejecting your candidate.

Atlas is probably the only place that thinks the media is biased in favor of Trump.
This has been the lefts new thing, especially since the town hall thing where Matt Lauer dared to ask Hillary about her emails (aka violating the espionage act tens of thousands of times)... if we were fair about it wouldn't we be talking about Hillary "miraculously avoiding jail" or "treasonous acts" not "emails"  Huh

They now expect the Candy Crowley inappropriate lying interjections to prop up their candidates when they are in trouble.  If they get less than that they claim "bias" in favor of Trump.

I'm not saying that the media doesn't tend to treat Trump with kid gloves, but the bigger problem here is that Hillary Clinton is quite honestly a corrupt, incompetent, stale, unlikeable candidate who quite honestly should not have been nominated (I'm not saying Sanders was better, both of them sucked ass).

I do blame the media for Trump winning the GOP nomination because they wanted the ratings and correctly believed that he would be the easiest republican for Hillary to beat.

But liberals crying crocodile tears over biased media coverage is deeply ironic.  The media has ruthlessly demonized every GOP nominee over the past 40 years.  Reagan was a dumb lunatic who was going to get us into WWIII.  HW Bush was a wimp.  Dole and McCain were senile and incompetent.  Dubya was a war criminal who intentionally lied us into war in order to make his friends in the oil industry rich.  Romney was a heartless plutocrat who wants old and the poor to die.  After crying wolf for so many years, the American people just aren't listening to the liberal media.  Now, a real wolf has shown up at the doorsteps, and their standard critique of "OMG! The GOP nominee is racist, xenophobic, and dangerous!!!" rings hollow.  If Trump wins, the media will have to engage in deep introspection.
