2014 wasn't a hugely embarrassing loss for Coakley, aside from the fact that it was the second major loss in a row. 2010 was, though.

I guess you could say that losing a presidential election to Donald Trump is similar to losing a Massachusetts Senate election to a Republican. I guess the analogy would be even better if she is somehow nominated again in the future, runs against Kasich (who is running a great campaign) in a generally bad year for Democrats, and loses by a small margin.
