Probably, but there's also cases similar to this where a white sexual offender will get 20+ years as well. This seems to be one of those cases where the criminal justice system does a terrible job, not a racial disparity case. Although I agree that people justifying lighter punishments based on 'but he was such a good guy before' or 'he had such a bright future' is definitely something that wouldn't be used if the offender was black.
