I remember reading about how Sam Steiger ran for the United States Senate from Arizona and was even the anointed one. He won the Republican nomination after a nasty primary battle in which his heritage was brought up, but lost the general election to Dennis DeConcini.

Interesting. Didn't know his Jewish heritage and religion was brought into question. I do know he later registered with the Libertarian Party.

Things were certainly different many decades ago. And, sadly, in some states, these things still go on.

It's depressing that things are still like that these days.

Stephen Goldsmith, who was Mayor of Indianapolis, ran for Governor of Indiana in 1996 and he almost made it. I don't know what happened.

I hope Greitens being Jewish isn't hurting him. He seems like a great leader.

He has to worry about Chris Koster's name recognition.

When I was out canvassing for Koster everyone knew who he was but Greitens was referred to as "that other guy" or they didn't even know who was running on the republican side.

I hope he's losing because he's terrible, not because people are antisemitic.
