In terms of polling, Trump just hasn't been able to lead in states beyond the 266 mentioned in the article. So even if he does manage to win the 266 260 EV that look winnable for him right now, flipping another state is not going to be easy for him, since things may move in Hillary's direction again next week.

Well of course the BW states are not invulnerable, but I still think it's indisputable right now that Democrats have an overall advantage in presidential elections. More and more Republican states are moving into the Democratic column and few Democratic states are showing any notable, immediate signs of game-changing, long-term Republican shifts. Many of the states we are calling new/emerging battlegrounds were reliably Republican prior to 2008.

Neither aspect of presidential elections are favorable to Republicans right now.

If Clinton is just at +3 in Michigan, he's likely tied or ahead in Wisconsin. Once we get some new polls next week (Marquette IIRC is doing one), we'll get a clearer picture of this, but to act like it's some insurmountable climb to get another four electoral votes is rather ridiculous.

And may for new momentum for the Clinton campaign is the operative word there.
