Florida is a truly pathetic state if the only candidate they prefer to Flawless Beautiful Marco Purple heart Purple heart Purple heart is Trump. Murphy is an empty, privileged opportunist? Well, maybe if he decided to crawl back to the FL-18 race just to prepare for another Senate run in the future, and the Democrat in that race quietly got out of his way, then there'd be somewhat of a comparison to make.

The DSCC seems incredibly spastic.

This is dumb. They should've pulled out of OH two months ago; now they're overreacting. This'll be regretted.

To borrow a phrase, Democrats need to stop being the 'Stupid Party.'

Terrible news. Arrogant little Marco, who only uses the job as a stepping stone and is missing all senate floor votes, should be thrown out of the capitol.

Did you really expect anything better from the group that was still spending on Pryor in October 2014?

Ohio has 2 entrenched incumbent Senators that both parties can't knock off😐

Brown is not entrenched. 2006 was a MASSIVE Democratic wave, and in 2012 he got roughly the same margin as Obama. If Kasich runs in 2018, he'd win by double digits. Tiberi can beat him in a neutral year. Even Mandel is not as bad as the red avatars make him seem.

They aren't pulling out of Florida...they're rearranging their investments to shift money into Missouri and North Carolina.

Well, they still pulled 40% of their Florida advertising. That's still noteworthy.

It is, but Democrats are getting crushed in outside spending as well. We don't have the luxury of dumping money into races we'd like to win but don't appear to be as winnable as others (such as NC/MO, for now anyway)

I would have thought Democrats would get their sugardaddies to dig deep this cycle, given the potential benefits, but nope. Democrats are now setting themselves up for a long time in the Senate minority if we only claw back a bare majority this year and then get blown out in 2018. Donors like Steyer and Soros should be pumping tens of millions into Senate ads right now, and Clinton should be funneling money to the Murphy effort to take out Rubio (so as to reduce his chances in 2020). This is arguably the best election cycle we'll have for possibly another 6 years or more.

It's not nearly as alarmist as the idiots above are making it out to be though.

What this really shows is that Establishment Democrats are a dying breed....Patrick Murphy and Ted Strickland are about as establishment as you can possibly get (both with the backing of financial interest, which the national party loves),  while Deborah Ross and Jason Kander are both outsiders running on true issues the people care about.

Having outside money groups power your way through an election doesn't really work as well as it used to, and cozying up to the establishment party officials is really seen as slimy by the public (both of these are more applying to the Democratic voter base, not so much Republicans).

Hillary Clinton managed to squeak by this time, but I really think even at the presidential level this manor of winning is also fading away.

Blame it on Democrats' overconfidence. This is always what dooms us.

Ohio is going the way of Kentucky and WV.  It's only a matter of time.  Florida, however, looks promising in the long run, so I think they are making a mistake backing off on Rubio.

The Ohio GOP may be one of the most competent state parties in the country, but nothing suggests the state is going in the direction of Kentucky and West Virginia, which isn't a very apt comparison because Ohio has always has been swingy and doesn't have much of a Conservadem tradition like those states do.  Ohio also has more urban territory, though I'm not sure if the fastest growing areas of the state are Republican or Democrat-leaning.
