Let's discuss things we find funny.

I'll start with the classic Flannery O'Connor piece 'Living with a Peacock', republished in Mystery and Manners as 'The King of the Birds'.

The passive aggression that inspired this thread is palpable.  And I find that funny.

My hope is that I can make some contribution to the forum (as opposed to contributions to my own pathological need to defend myself from insults that aren't really worth it) out of this mess.

I cam across a TED talk on the public television station.  The guy was talking about educational inequality and said in all seriousness "People say to lift yourself up by your bootstrap, but how am I supposed to lift myself up if I was born without straps on my boots?."

It's funny enough that people occasionally use the bootstrap phrase unironically (not thinking for a moment about the physics of it) but that response is especially hilarious.
