I think Stein has proven the Greens are NOT really just a party to the left of the Democrats but rather a bunch of kooky nutjobs and the Greens are not a suitable party for anything. People whining about the Democrats really should not be promoting the Greens as an alternative.

Here's the problem with your thinking. You sound like an entitled party boss.

Stein is certainly a joke, and has taken several stances which I would definitely not consider "progressive." With that said, I'm sure that there are some Green Party members or politicians with a more coherent agenda. #NotAllGreens

I don't like either to concede the implications of this position or to vote yes in a BRTD poll, but yes.

No, Jill Stein is a fantastic candidate. It's the liberals who have once again been proven to be fools.

We were already vindicated by the 2000 election and it's aftermath.

Do I like the Green Party? Absolutely not.

Do I think their nomination of Stein validates my position? Not necessarily. Respectable parties nominate some questionable candidates every once and a while (looking at you, Republicans). Though if the Green's goal is to be taken seriously, it definitely was a mistake to nominate a joke like Stein who's only going to slow down the party's progress.

Republicans are not a respectable party.

Republicans are not a respectable party.

They control the House, Senate and a majority of Governorships and state houses, and their presidential candidate will (most likely) win more than 40% of the national vote in November. They are a respectable party simply by sheer numbers.

I don't think numbers earn you respect.

They can do, I mean, respect isn't something objective, and in the case of the Republican party it's clear that it has earned at least the tacit respect (by obtaining votes) of a near plurality of the electorate, which ultimately matters far more in the grand scheme of things.

Difference between is and ought, I guess.

No, people like David Cobb are more like Rocky Anderson and Thom Hartmann.
