Everybody, stop and think.

If Trump wins as in the OP scenario, he deserves to win the Presidency, if he wins the recounts as stated.

That's democracy, and the Dems would just have to get over it.

"The ugliest possible scenario for Democrats," should Hillary Clinton lose to Donald Trump, would be the end of the active careers of a lot of individuals who are the Democratic Party establishment. And their exits would be both long overdue and well-earned.
so what do you propose take their place? let's be honest here, if the Democratic Party was entirely Bernie-oriented, the Republicans would have huge majorities in both houses of Congress. Plus, the Democratic party is viewed MUCH more favorably than the Republican party (Dems are barely underwater, whereas Reps are something like 30 points down), so it appears that the public at large disagrees. Besides, if the Democrats imploded, who would take their place? The Greens? Don't make me laugh.

Go back to sleep.

Winning despite losing the popular vote is not democracy, it is the opposite. It is "democracy" in the same way that Clinton winning Oklahoma would be.

We are not a democracy; we are a republic, albeit one with democratic features.

And we are in a position where there may be more than one President elected with less than a majority of the popular vote over the next 20 years.  Unless there is some significant restructuring of the electorate, that is.

I am aware; I was contesting the claim that a 2000 situation would be democracy.
