I can't believe this is actually real. If by some chance it is, Pence is even nuttier than I thought.

Yea, he's a little crazy, but that's his beliefs. You can disagree with it, but it's his beliefs.

I doubt it.
I don't see Pence as the type of creating "satire" from the Christian faith.
But I agree with the others, this makes him look "nuttier."

Reminds me of Thomas R. Marshall’s dedication to Wilson: „from your only vice.”

I agree.  If you hate the word vice that much, why accept the position?  It makes no sense!  Does this mean he will change the historic name of the office?  It's insane!  I expect this of politically correct liberals who want to change the names of sports teams.  Kick his ass off the ticket!

Just because "it's his beliefs" doesn't make it acceptable.
What if his beliefs were related to a Satanic religion.
Would you be so bold to excuse that also, simply on the premise of "but that's his beliefs" ?

Regardless of what religion Pence follows (or you or I), he should not insert "his beliefs" into something as silly as saying that he doesn't want to be referred to as a "vice" presidential candidate. That is just stupid.

And he can continue to hold his beliefs outside of the US naval observatory.

The author, Chris Lamb, describes himself as a satirist on his HuffPo bio. The same essay also has Pence talk about a Republican Bible as different from The Bible, which sounds like satire to me. I'm not aware of a Thursday press conference by Pence.

It's probably satire. HuffPo should make it clear that their satire articles are in fact satire because they don't, and this one is too real to be funny. If it is real, then I would propose the term "Number Two" instead of Vice President, but only for Pence of course. Kaine seems happy being a vice.

Thank you!  If it's a joke, I retract my earlier comment about kicking him off the ticket.

Is this satire? Please tell me this is satire.

Yes, but it's strange for a major news website not to clearly demarcate it as such aside from posting it in the "entertainment" section.

It's also not especially funny... I see shades of the distinctive self-satisfied inanity that defines The Borowitz Report, Trevor Noah, and most of the rare attempts at humor in NPR's news coverage.

Then again, Mike Pence is not especially funny. Unless you're thinking of him not as a governor but as the guy whose wife lost thousands of dollars in a failed attempt to market "personalized towel charms."

It better not be real or else it's nutty talk, but it is his beliefs. If a Democratic atheist ran for president and said, I want to remove the Christmas tree from the White House and remove "In God We Trust", you won't have a problem with it.

Guys, this is a piece of satire, not an actual news story. Huffpo trying to be like the Onion.

Yeah, HuffPo is even more of a joke than I thought if they're not even going to label this thing satire in any way, shape, or form. No tiny disclaimer at the bottom. Nothing. I had to read 3/4 of the way through before I was sure of what it was.
