http://nypost.com/2016/09/17/explosion-rocks-chelsea-in-new-york-city/

No confirmation of a bomb and certainly no information regarding if it's terrorism.

FDNY is reporting there are 25 minor injuries and no deaths.

There was an explosion in Seaside today as well. I wonder if there related?

At least no one died. That's good.

Or seriously injured...
I wonder why someone would try to blow up a dumpster in a wealthy yet low profile neighborhood..it seems that it is likely to be anything.

It also has a large gay population because it borders the West Village, AKA the Castro/DuPont Circle of Manhattan.

Sounds like a poorly executed ISIS inspired attack by the surface. Thank God the bomber/bombers weren't very good at their "craft."

We wait and we wait and it seems to me that we always reach the same conclusion eventually, so I don't see why this fetish with caution in considering the obvious has to do with anything. Of course, assuming the suspect is inspired by ISIS doesn't mean that it has to do with Islam. I feel that most of the attacks that involve ISIS inspired (IE, not directed from Raqqa like the Paris attacks) are more to do with the fact that some screwed up kid is using the Islamic State and their perverse interpretation of Islam to justify his heinous acts. Case in point, Omar Mateeb.

Could be neo-nazis but could be jihadis...most likely confused children who think they are those things.

Because caution is always a good path when it comes to emotive issues.

Atlas would rather be the first to saying anything.

Neo-Nazis would have been my guess had they not targeted the Veterans event in New Jersey. While obviously all veterans are not Neo-Nazis, a number of Neo-Nazis are veterans (think Bo Gritz, Tim McVeigh etc).

CNN says that there might be other bombs in the area. Probably is true, but I suspect from the limited information that has been released is that they won't go off since the explosions have been pretty poorly executed. I guess that is good news?

At the end of the day, whoever did this, be they anarchists, IS sympathizers, Neo-Nazis, rando religious cult, etc, will have their day at court. This event doesn't have any profound emotional impact aside from empathy for the victims and won't change my opposition to the relatively statist anti-terror measures that both Trump and Clinton espouse.

The West Village haw a gay presence, but the Castro is stretching it. More than anything it's a rich area.

The address given is next to a Catholic Church-- St Vincent De Paul.

De Blasio said that it was "intentional but not terrorism". What exactly does that mean? Organised crime? Individual lunatic?

Was at that intersection a few hours before this happened. I'm glad nobody is in a life threatening situation.

Does any of this have to do with what happened with in New Jersey, Calgary, and St Cloud? Also doesn't Chelsea Clinton have an apartment near by?
