Really low information district, or one marked by some sort of strong spirit of civic republicanism and/or fascism.

Suburban republican districts would likely be areas where I'd do decent. Also, some areas that are centrist would prob elect me as well.

I'd be running as a social moderate (Pro-LGBT, kind of pro-Pot, pro-Immigration reform, generally not in the religious right's camp) who is fiscally libertarian and a foreign policy hawk.

Barbara Comstock's district sounds like a good fit.

Yea, that would actually be a cool, winnable fit for a hypothetical Sunrise candidacy.

I could also see myself running above average in DWS's seat or in Ted Deutch's seat (but would likely still lose by a good amount in both).

TN-07.  Suburban, well-off, ideologically conservative across fiscal, social, and national security issues.  It's a good fit for me, and I'll likely live there anyway in 10 years or so.

Some mountainous, rural Western district, rich in Mormons and/or libertarians, fond of reelecting its incumbents forever. AK-AL, MT-AL, WY-AL, or either Idaho district sound nice, as do eastern Oregon/Washington.

There's really nowhere in Ohio that's a particularly good fit for me, but with a strong enough campaign apparatus and weak opponents I could probably squeeze through a Republican primary with a plurality, like Warren Davidson or Bob Gibbs did. My occasionally contrarian ideological positions would make me vulnerable in redistricting, though; I do think Ohio is sufficiently incumbent-friendly that I wouldn't get primaried. Almost weirdly so, in fact.

CA-52, CA-35(Schmitz's old district), OH-13(OH-17's remnants, and OH-17 was Ashrbook's district), and TX-1 would be good fits for fascism.

Right here in my home district, IL-18. One of the most conservative districts in the Midwest.

I'd probably be best in a moderate-to-liberal Democratic state like New Mexico. When the districts are drawn fairly here in Michigan, they'd lump my adopted city of Kalamazoo together with Battle Creek and Lansing, creating a D+3-D+5 district.

If I had to pick one that exists now, I'd go with NM-1, NM-3, MD-6, FL-9, or FL-14.

I'd portray myself as a thoughtful, pragmatic Democrat. Whether or not that's accurate is a matter for debate.

I wouldn't move to a new district just to run for Congress or any office. That is carpetbagging. It wasn't cool when Hillary did it, it wasn't cool when Dan Bongino did it, and it wouldn't be cool if I did it.

Hate to say it Sunrise, even though you'd do well out in Winchester and in the mega-wealthy Great Falls area, you'd do pretty bad in Eastern Loudoun County. Perhaps you'd still win in a midterm though.

Anyways, I'd move next door to VA-11 and pickup Gerry Connolly's seat after he retires. Or, I'd move south to NC-04, wait for David Price to retire in 2018, take that seat, and then prepare my inevitable run in the 2020 NC Senate race to take down Thom Tillis.

I dunno, would be difficult to find somewhere that an openly gay Republican could win. I'd imagine my best markets would be FL 27th, maybe my home district of CT 04TH.

MD-8 - Hardly the exact region (due to gerrymandering) I'd like to represent, but since it covers parts of MoCo I have history with, I'd like it nonetheless

Ditto, see you in the future MD-8 primary, Virginia! Tongue

MI-4, where I currently live, especially because I don't like carpetbagging.

Is it carpetbagging if you move to a district you previously lived in?

To me, carpetbagging is moving to a new place where you don't have ties to and then running for office. For example, Elizabeth Dole isn't a carpetbagger, she grew up in North Carolina. Therefore, she had ties to the state, and continued to frequently visit family before running for Senate. Alex Mooney, however, is. He ran for the New Hampshire State House while still in college at Dartmouth, and then moved back to his native Maryland where he became very active in that state's politics. He planned to run for MD-06, but when redistricting made it less favorable to him, and Shelley Moore Capito gave up WV-02 for her successful Senate run, he decided to run there, even though he had no past ties to West Virginia, and won despite having been a West Virginian for just a few months.

As a Republican, I would run for congress in Vermont because it's the new New Hampshire.
As a Democrat, I would run for congress in NH-01 because New Hampshire is the new Vermont.

1. NH-2
2. VT-AL
3. MN-8
4. MA-2

Rural Democrat-leaning areas, basically.
