If Kasich thought this was a decency issue, he's had years to speak up.  Now that he's backed himself into a #NeverTrump corner, he's pointing this out.

Kasich is working AGAINST the GOP national ticket, and this is going to hurt him from here on out.

Nationally, perhaps; but he's got no chance anyway of being the GOP nominee for President, unless the party goes through a drastic and unlikely change.  But this won't hurt, and may help, his (already high) standing inside Ohio, and there's a Democratic Senator up for re-election in 2018...

Rank-and-file Republicans in Ohio are pro-Trump, and local Republicans in this tight race aren't helped by Kasich's actions.  Somehow, things like this often come up in campaigns of candidates who are running for other offices and have issues with party loyalty.

He has zero chance of winning the GOP nomination in 2020.

Reince Priebus might enforce that.

Kasich is nothing but a suck up to Obama and agrees with him on almost everything. Definitely not a man of his word.

Looks like Trump supporters are resorting to this:

And Kasich gains some more respect from me. I don't agree with him on much, but I'd MUCH rather have him as president than Trump or Cruz (say). I'd still vote for Clinton on policy, of course, but Kasich isn't a bad guy at all.

Why didn't he say anything back in 2011?? Actually I know the answer, but this is just an F.U. to Trump, that's all.

Who gave two sh*ts about Donald Trump in 2011?

Reince Priebus is a cuck and not really capable of enforcing anything.

If Kasich thought this was a decency issue, he's had years to speak up.  Now that he's backed himself into a #NeverTrump corner, he's pointing this out.

This is not particularly true; rank-and-file Republicans in OH are lukewarm Trump supporters at best, and outright defecting at worst. They definitely back Kasich in this fight. Trump has much stronger-than-usual support from Democrats in places like Parma and Youngstown, which is why he's still competitive in this state.

Kasich, Cruz, and all the other Republican officeholders who haven't endorsed Trump really need Hillary to win, because President Trump would be really vindictive against them once he's in office.

If I was a Republican I'd vote for Kasich. He's got more integrity than all the rest of them and he's also got a heart. Got compassion. Some things Trump has no clue about.

I don't agree with his policies but I sure think he's a better human being than Trump could ever hope to be. And a better leader by far.

He has been, but for some reason, this hasn't come through this year.  It's amazing that a guy who had his own FOX News show came off as insufficiently conservative to Republicans.

That says more about Republicans than Kasich.

As opposed to Hillary?

Hillary's apologies aren't really apologies; they're a kind of insincere "My bad!" whose aim is to move away from discussion of what she's apologizing form.

I would love for a Trumpite for ONCE to react to a criticism of Trump to not need to say "buh Hillary!"

I liked Kasich. In January 2015, I considered him a serious contender for the GOP nomination. Now I see that he's just a disgusting, little, weak, pathetic baby.
