Geez,  he really has no clue.    I was willing to overlook the Aleppo thing since he might have forgot what it was at the particular moment or something,  this is just flat out stupid.

I noticed Brian Stelter didn't seem surprised.

I thought about voting for him because I am now in a safe D state but now...yeah. I think I'm good with just the line.

Gary Johnson "grateful no one was hurt" in bombing attack that injured 30

How is this a problem?  Johnson doesn't like people to get hurt.  He might have said something like, "hey, at least no one was hurt" but instead he said that he was "grateful."  Okay, so maybe he believes in a god or gods.  That's not unusual.  So he is glad that no one got hurt and he is expressing gratitude to whatever universal forces were active in ensuring that no one got hurt.

By the way, all 29 people admitted to that hospital have been released.  They don't release you if you're coughing up an organ.  Try to get over yourselves.  Don't be surprised Johnson is glad that no one was seriously hurt.  I know that it's hard for the Trump supporters and the Clinton supporters to imagine that someone might be legitimately relieved that no one was hurt, but some people do have human feelings.  There's nothing to see here, people.  Move along.

But that's not what he said! And since he's not a part of the dinosaur two party system, you can't assume common sense.

This is one thing I have quite a bit of sympathy for candidates over. People are exhausted and misspeak.

Reverse the last two.  Stein goes out of her way to be stupid.  Johnson is more laissez faire about it.

Johnson isn't a strong enough contender to be that exhausted.

Somebody said that Johnson looks like he is always stoned.  Who wouldn't be?  Having to put up with such scrutiny all the time.  I don't know Gary Johnson personally, but I think he's probably saying what comes naturally.  No one was so badly hurt that he lost his life, or a limb, or any other part of him that merited more than a few hours of observation after being admitted to the hospital.

So he's grateful that no one was hurt, and all of the sudden it's like he raped a little boy.  WTF?  It's like people convincing themselves that "amnesty" is a dirty word, or that "deplorable" is a nice one.  It's all upside down.  Johnson said something nice, as far as I'm concerned.

You OK?

But this was clearly a misspeak and people should give a little leeway on these kinds of things, they are human. The Aleppo thing was a f*** up, this was just a human flub. Who cares.

Just about two sheets to the wind, but I'm okay.   Tongue

edit:  don't bring up Aleppo here.  That's a different situation.  I think he really blinked then.  Long and hard.  Maybe he was stoned, or maybe he was caught off guard--I posted a plausible scenario in that thread.  This is different.  He's just making nice here.  I think we can agree on this.  He's glad no one was hurt.  Probably the statement might have been made more sensitively--after all, 29 people were admitted to a hospital, and even in a sensationalistic, litigious society like ours, one that prides itself onspending 1/6 of its aggregate GDP on things like hospitalizations, 29 people is hard to ignore--but no one was seriously injured and he's just saying that this is like a silver lining around a cloud, and perhaps that we should be grateful for the fact that no one was seriously hurt.

I'm all for making fun of politicians, but this seems like a cheap shot.

In one of the bombings, nobody was hurt. That is what he was probably referring to.

I'll give him a pass. Probably meant to say that he was glad no one was killed.

clash,

Given all the racist and xenophobic messages that have come out of the mouth of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, it’s nice to know that you have such lofty standards.

Where in the original post did you see me a cast value judgement of Johnson or his gaffe(s)?

Considering he's the candidate who's further to the right on economics than Milton Friedman that young Bernie Sanders socialists are voting for just because of marijuana, it wouldn't surprise me.

Feeling pain and being hurt is two different things.
