People are asking for more variety. Yet, out of the two major third parties, all I see is one party that doesn't appeal to me very much (L) or the nutcase party (G).

To me, there is zero chance that the Republican party will try to help those like me (Black, Gen Z, etc.) and other minorities and other deserving people, so I will register with the Dem party in 2019.

But anyways, what are your thoughts?

No party in the US is taking seriously the problems which face this nation. None have reasonable solutions.

In the US, third parties lack the need to put forth candidates who have any clue on how to govern or make sensible policy. A major party gets away with it at their own peril unless they are enjoying the fruits of a favorable district or one party state. And even then, if they perpetually govern like idiots folks will start to notice and at the very least primary out the incompetents. Third parties as they conduct themselves at the moment have no fear of actually having to govern, and thus are free to believe what ever crazy they like and throw all sorts of bombs without fear of losing next election season. The biggest problem for them is being seen as a spoiler, and the hard core supporters get real upset when you mention it and then start running in logic circles to try to prove that they're efforts are so totally not letting the major party they disagree with most win.

So yeah, don't got a favorable opinion of these two. They could of course fix it if they say focused on local races, perhaps getting majority control in a few states to demonstrate they're legitimate and also know how to govern. And maybe spend more time attacking the party candidates they most disagree with instead of the nearest neighbors. I know a guy on facebook who every single day posts 3-10 pro Stein memes (most of which make no sense) and a vast majority of them are attacking Clinton with maybe one every week that's pro Stein. The best it gets is when his attacks are against all major parties. And he has the gaul to get upset when I call him out? Yeah, not really being a positive example.

There are good people in the Libertarian Party and some nutters. The Green Party on the other hand are all nutters.

Broadly favorable of both. I would probably be a vocal supporter of the Libertarian Party if it were slightly more serious than it is now, and I also approve of the Green Party both sucking votes away from Democrats and pushing them towards a more environmentalist tack, one of the few positive aspects of the Democratic Party.

If this question were about the two major parties, I'd say almost the same thing with one change:

Unfavorable, both are full of nuts. Democrats are worse though.

VERY unfavorable to both of these terrible joke parties. Clinton and Trump are both better than Johnson and Stein.

Libertarian - favorable, but I'm pretty disappointed in Johnson's performance as a candidate since he's been given tons of opportunities to be seen on national television and has basically biffed all of them.

Green - favorable. Thanks for helping get W elected in 2000.

Both are mostly jokes, though the Green Party candidate this year in particular is a much bigger joke.

Very unfavorable for libertarians, slightly favorable to Greens even if they are laughably ineffective on the National level[Stein being the icing on the cake for that part].

California Greens put up an effective mayoral candidate for San Francisco mayor who would've been lightyears ahead of who we actually got in 2003. Also made Arcata a pretty sweet place to live.

Both are obviously awful, although the Greens do occasionally produce some really good candidates, like Howie Hawkins.

Very unfavorable opinion of the Dems and Repubs. Favorable of Libertarians, because they offer an alternative to the status quo and of course the Greens most favorable.
